I hurt my back in spring of 2002. The MRI indicated that I had 2 herniated discs-L5
and S1. By mid-summer, I was in constant pain and discomfort from the sciatic
nerve down my leg. My Doctor prescribed Vioxx (after developing an allergy to
Bextra). I decided to have the spinal shots recommended by Dr. Hughes and had
three of them, one month apart. This helped enough so that I could perform some
(conventional) physical therapy beginning in October 2002. I exercised along
with the (conventional) physical therapy for 16 months, taking Vioxx the entire
time to relieve the discomfort... That never seemed to go away no matter what
exercise I did. I was not crippled by the pain, but it wore me down mentally.
In January 2004, Dr Hughes mentioned that the office had the IDD Therapy® treatment
machine. I asked if I could try it. When my insurance approved the treatment
as a new type of physical therapy, I scheduled my treatment for 4 weeks. I was
able to discontinue taking Vioxx completely. I also started hiking and was more
active than I had ever been in 2 years. I think the IDD Therapy® machine
is God-send, and I will never forget how much help I’ve received from that
treatment. I thanked the women that operated the machine and could not tell them
enough how much I had been helped.
When Vioxx was taken off the market at the end of September 2004, I felt even
more grateful to the makers of the machine. That meant that I was taking the
medication for 5 months less. It is now January 2005 and I am still pain free!
